CIO Ascent Announces Spring 2027 Executive Retreat in Zion National Park
After an inaugural retreat near Yellowstone, CIO Ascent heads to southern Utah for three to five days with a small group of Chief Information Officers.
CIO Ascent, the CxO Ascent community for Chief Information Officers, will hold its Spring 2027 retreat May 12–16, 2027, near Zion National Park, with base camp in St. George, Utah. It will be the community's second retreat, following its inaugural gathering near Yellowstone National Park in September 2026.
From Yellowstone to red rock country
The first CIO Ascent retreat brought a group of CIOs to Bozeman, Montana, September 17–20, 2026. They spent three days between the Gallatin Range and Yellowstone, with hikes to Hyalite Falls, Beaver Ponds, Slough Creek, and History Rock. Spring 2027 takes the same format south to Zion's sandstone canyons.
What to expect
The retreat is small and peer-led. A group of CIOs and a few partners will spend three to five days outside, depending on how long each person stays, away from panels, booths, and badges, with time to think clearly and talk openly with people who carry the same responsibilities.
Hikes and activities on CxO Ascent retreats are generally rated easy to moderate and suit most fitness levels. The full itinerary will be posted on the CIO Ascent Spring 2027 retreat page as plans are finalized.
Why Zion National Park
Zion protects a deep canyon carved by the Virgin River in southwestern Utah, with sandstone walls that rise thousands of feet above the canyon floor. It was Utah's first national park. Late spring brings mild weather and long days, a good fit for a group that wants to spend most of its time on the trail.
St. George is about an hour's drive from the park's south entrance and gives the group a comfortable base close to the canyon.
Two communities, one month
CISO Ascent holds its own Zion retreat May 1–5, 2027, about a week before the CIO group arrives. The two communities run separate retreats so each group stays small and focused on its own seat. Read the CISO Ascent announcement.
